About Iqbal Maseeh
Born in 1983 in Muridke, Pakistan, Iqbal was sold into bonded labour at the age of four. He worked in a carpet factory, knotting thousands of knots every day.
At the age of ten, he mustered the courage to escape. He fought for his freedom-and for the freedom of thousands of other children like him.
Iqbal became the youngest campaigner against bonded labour and a global symbol of courage, education, and hope.
